Need a sonnet? I'm on it!
Hi, my name is Joanne. I wrote my first poem when I was 10 years old, about my move from one Queens, New York, neighborhood to another. It was a rhyming poem that ended with, “My new address is 6941, and as I look back, moving sure is fun!”
As a child, I often wrote essays, including year-end assessments of my life. I wrote in diaries and, as I got older, journals. For much of my adulthood, I’ve written poems, mostly for family members or special events. From witnessing my nephew’s birth to welcoming my granddaughter into the world and another for her brother to milestone birthdays and anniversaries, I’ve found a way to express my own as well as the feelings of others.
My two careers have centered on all forms of communication. I was a public relations executive for many years and am now an adjunct instructor, teaching college writing and public speaking courses.
I created Personal Verse to give you a unique way to celebrate the most important people in your life. Through my writing skills and my passion, I will deliver to you poems and prose that capture the spirit, the emotion and the tradition for every special occasion and memorable moment.
